(L.A.) Phillip Moreno, 31, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 31-year-old Hispanic male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Phillip Moreno of Torrance.

A drunk driver had hit the decedent, who remained embedded in the windshield while the driver continued for about 2.3 miles.

Sherri Wilkins, 51, of Torrance was booked on suspicion of drunken driving and manslaughter late Saturday night.

Police say she struck the victim on Torrance Boulevard near Madrid Avenue at around 11:25 p.m.

Wilkins continued driving for about 2.3 miles with the man lodged in her windshield.

She was persuaded to stop by witnesses who saw her pass by with the victim on her car.

Wilkins, whose blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit, told officers she was coming home from work.

Moreno was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
