Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 39-year-old Caucasian male that occurred at the University of California L.A.

The coroner’s office identified the man as William S. Klug. Born in Torrance, California. Mother’s maiden name is Martin.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Multiple Gunshot Wounds

RIP WILLIAM SCOTT KLUG (June 19, 1976 – June 1, 2016)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 10:03 a.m.

The decedent was an engineering professor at UCLA. He was a married father of two.

Police had responded to gunfire at UCLA’s Boelter Hall just before 10 a.m. University officials issued an alert to students to shelter in place.

“Shooting at Engineering 4. Go to secure location and deny entry (lockdown) now!”

Klug was killed by Mainak Sarkar, a former doctoral student at UCLA, who then shot himself dead.
