(L.A.) Atiel Sandoval Borquez, 13, Died in Montebello

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 13-year-old Latino male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office identified the boy as Atiel Sandoval Borquez.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Thermal Injuries and Inhalation of Products of Combustion

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday.

The decedent and his 50-year-old mother were killed by her 47-year-old boyfriend when the man set their Montebello house on fire.
 

The incident happened in the 100 block of South Fifth Street. Neighbors say the fire started at around 4:30 a.m.

Montebello PD found the critically injured couple in front of a house fully engulfed in flames. The boy would later be found lifeless inside.
