Los Angeles County is reporting the death of an 89-year-old Black male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office identified the man as John Antowine.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death: Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease

RIP JOHN L. ANTOWINE (December 1936 – December 12, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday.

The decedent was discovered unresponsive in his residence by the property manager during a welfare check after neighbors reported that his front door had been ajar for several days.

The decedent had no known medical history but appeared to ambulate with the assistance of a cane.

No visible trauma was observed, and no foul play was indicated.
