(L.A.) Shannon Matthews, 47, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 47-year-old White/Caucasian female that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as Shannon Matthews.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Combined Effect of Multiple Central Nervous System Depressants

Other Significant Condition: Seizure Disorder and Hypertension

RIP SHANNON MATTHEWS (1978 – August 13, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on October 22, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, polydrug overdose.
