(L.A.) Jose Hernandez, 91, Killed by LAPD

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 91-year-old Latino male.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Jose Hernandez.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Multiple Blunt-Force Traumatic Injuries

Other Significant Condition: Hypertensive and Arteriosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday.

The decedent was fatally injured in a crash with a speeding LAPD cruiser at around 1:55 p.m.

Pigs were responding with emergency lights and siren to a radio call in the 6700 block of Riverton Avenue. While the pigs were traveling eastbound on Saticoy Street approaching Cleon Avenue, the driver of a silver Honda Accord was making a left-hand turn from Cleon to Saticoy.

The old man had been estimated to be only 55 to 70 years old based on his appearance.

In the footage released, the LAPD driver did not even attempt to brake or swerve as the old man’s vehicle came into sight.

Note that there are multiple decedents named “Jose Hernandez” in public records.
