(L.A.) Damian Over, 44, Died at a Private Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 44-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred at a private residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Damian Over.

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 8:42 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on May 27, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.

Cocaine is a powerful stimulant that increases heart rate, blood pressure, and central nervous system activity. Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) is a central nervous system depressant, producing effects such as drowsiness, unconsciousness, respiratory depression, and, at high doses, coma or death. When used together, these drugs have opposing effects on the body: cocaine stimulates while GHB depresses the central nervous system.

Mixing GHB with stimulants like cocaine is particularly dangerous. The stimulant effects of cocaine can mask the sedative effects of GHB, leading users to consume higher, potentially fatal doses of GHB. This combination can place severe strain on the heart and increase the risk of fatal arrhythmias, respiratory depression, and aspiration of vomit while unconscious.
