(L.A.) Benjamin Caranchini, 18, Died in Azusa

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of an 18-year-old male.
The coroner’s office identified the young man as Benjamin Caranchini and listed his race/ethnicity as Hispanic [sic].
Manner of Death: Homicide
Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of Chest
RIP BENJAMIN MATTHEW CARANCHINI (January 31, 2004 – December 5, 2022)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 10:45 a.m.
Azusa PD responded at around 10:00 a.m. for a crash in the 200 block of East Newburgh Street, near Azusa Avenue and Arrow Highway.
The victim had been shot and then crashed his dark-colored Hyundai into a parked pickup truck in a residential neighborhood.
Caranchini was live-streaming on social media when the shooting happened. A gunshot can be heard on the video before the driver — who was wearing a red beanie and a black face mask — lost control of the car.
Benjamin Matthew Caranchini had been arrested by Azusa Police on July 25, 2022, for the following:
- 664/187(A) – Attempted Willful / Deliberate / Premeditated Murder
- 25400(A)1 – Carry Concealed Weapon in Vehicle
- 25400(A)(3) – Carry Concealed Firearm in Vehicle
- 25850(C)(2) – Carry Stolen Loaded Firearm
