Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 22-year-old Latino male.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Jacob Maldonado.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death A: Pulmonary Embolism

Cause of Death B: Phlebothrombosis

Other Significant Conditions: Hypertrophic Heart Disease, Obesity, Covid

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 11:15 p.m.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on February 2.

Phlebothrombosis occurs when a blood clot (thrombosis) in a vein (phlebo) forms independently from the presence of inflammation of the vein.
