RIP MICHAEL DOYLE (November 12, 1974 – August 7, 2024)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 2:48 p.m.
Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on December 12, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.
Compartment syndrome occurs when increased pressure within a closed muscle compartment compromises blood flow, leading to tissue ischemia and necrosis. If untreated, it can result in severe complications, including renal failure and death.
Clostridium perfringens is a bacterium that can cause severe infections, including gas gangrene and necrotizing fasciitis. These infections are characterized by rapid progression and high morbidity and mortality rates.
Clostridium infections can initiate a cascade of events—tissue necrosis, inflammation, and potential septic shock—that culminate in compartment syndrome due to increased compartment pressure and compromised blood supply.
