RIP VAN UNG (October 20, 1982 – May 30, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 8:56 a.m.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on September 3, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back positive for the drugs.

Ephedrine is a stimulant that affects the central nervous system and is used in various medical contexts. It can increase heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing rate, which makes it useful in treating conditions like asthma, nasal congestion, and sometimes hypotension. It’s also been used in the past for weight loss and athletic performance, but due to its potential for serious side effects and abuse, its use in these areas is now highly regulated or banned in many places. Side effects can include jitteriness, anxiety, increased heart rate, and in severe cases, it can lead to heart problems or stroke.
