RIP CAMERON FLORES (September 25, 2022 – May 22, 2024)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 9:39 a.m.
The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on July 11, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back positive from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
LASD deputies had responded to Melville J. Courson Park, located at 38226 10th Street East, shortly before 9 a.m. on and made contact with the boy’s father, who, according to investigators, said his son was suffering from a medical emergency. The child was transported to the hospital.
Shaffer Grindstaff, 29, was arrested and booked, with bail set at one million dollars. He was released a few days later due to insufficient grounds for indictment.
Neighbors said the child lived with his father in an apartment complex across the street from the park.
On Linkedin, Grindstaff wrote that he worked as an automotive consultant for Infiniti of Valencia starting in 2018. He stands six feet tall and weighs 190 pounds.
