Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 41-year-old Latino male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Miguel Artiga-Rivas.

Cause of Death: Complications of Laennec’s Cirrhosis

Other Significant Conditions: Medical History of Chronic Ethanol Abuse, Diabetes Mellitus and Esophageal Varices

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 7:12 p.m.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on May 9.

Laënnec cirrhosis is primarily caused by excessive and chronic alcohol consumption.
