(L.A.) Rhaquan Johnson, 28, Died in a Prison Cell

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 28-year-old Black male that occurred at the NCCF in Castaic.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Rhaquan Johnson.

Height: 5 feet 9 inches / Weight: 185 pounds

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Combined Effects of Methamphetamine and Heroin

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 9:55 a.m.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on June 5, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back positive for the drugs.

The decedent was found lifeless in a bunk in his cell at the North County Correctional Facility.

He had been arrested in 2022 for an assault using a firearm / attempted murder. His bail was set at over a million dollars. His next court date was to have been on May 21, 2024.
