Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 40-year-old Hispanic female that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Krystal Trillo.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death A: Acute Respiratory Failure

Cause of Death B: Coronavirus HKU1 Infection

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 12:26 a.m.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on May 17.

Human coronavirus HKU1 is a species of coronavirus in humans and animals. It causes an upper respiratory disease with symptoms of the common cold, but can advance to pneumonia and bronchiolitis. It was first discovered in January 2004 from one man in Hong Kong.
