Los Angeles County is reporting the death of an 80-year-old Latino male that occurred in a vehicle.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Joe Nuanes.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Methamphetamine Effects

RIP JOE NUANES (April 20, 1943 – February 5, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 4:35 p.m.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on March 16, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back positive for the drug.

This is NOT the oldest death in the county from a recreational meth overdose. Ted Isaacs was 85 when meth killed him.
