Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 53-year-old Black female.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Dana Washington Johnson.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death A: Diabetic Ketoacidosis

Cause of Death B: Diabetes Mellitus

Other Significant Conditions: Sars-Cov-2 (Covid-19) and Coronavirus OC43 Infection

RIP DANA WASHINGTON JOHNSON (December 30, 1970 – January 7, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 3:20 p.m.

The government investigator had misspelled the decedent’s middle name as Washignton in the initial disclosure, on January 9. It was corrected the following day.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on March 13.

OC43 is one of seven coronaviruses known to infect humans. It is one of the viruses responsible for the common cold.
