RIP DEREK FOWLER (April 16, 1959 – December 20, 2022)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 3:13 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published in early August, presumably after the results of tox screening came back.

Fournier gangrene is a type of necrotizing fasciitis or gangrene affecting the external genitalia or perineum. It commonly occurs in older men, but it can also occur in women and children. It is more likely to occur in people with diabetes or alcoholism or those who are immunocompromised.

A famous person who reportedly is afflicted with Fournier gangrene is Harvey Weinstein.
