(L.A.) Zealand Martin, 1, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a one-year-old male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the child as Zealand Martin and listed his race/ethnicity as White/Caucasian + Black.

STATUS: The decedent’s body has been released. Ruling by the deputy medical examiner is deferred pending additional investigation.

Manner and cause of death will be added to this page when it becomes available.

If the DME has ordered toxicological screening, the next public update may take six to nine months.

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday.

The boy was found unresponsive when someone tried to wake him from a nap at a residence in Porter Ranch.

Law enforcement found drug paraphernalia and evidence of fentanyl use inside the home.
