(L.A.) Yazmin Payne, 33, Died in Van Nuys

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 33-year-old Black male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Michael Payne.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Multiple Sharp-Force Injuries

RIP MICHAEL PAYNE (December 28, 1981 – January 31, 2015)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 5:30 a.m.

The decedent was a transgender woman who went by the name Yazmin Payne. (S)he was stabbed to death by his/her boyfriend Ezekiel Jamal Dear who also set their Van Nuys apartment on fire. (S)he was found on the kitchen floor at the scene of the fire in the 14600 block of Saticoy Street.

Note that there are multiple decedents named “Michael Payne” in public records.
