(L.A.) Yazmin Nuñez, 44, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 44-year-old Hispanic female that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Yazmin Nuñez.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Penetrating Gunshot Wound of Head

RIP YAZMIN NUÑEZ (April 29, 1981 – May 30, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday.

The decedent was shot inside her gray Volkswagen in Boyle Heights on May 28, Wednesday.

Police responded to 8th Street and Grande Vista Avenue, where the victim was found with gunshot wounds after her car had collided with a streetlight. Apparently, she lost control of her car after she was hit by gunfire and then collided with the street light.

* A native of Durango, Mexico, the decedent had a rap sheet in the county going back over 10 years with arrests for burglary, drug possession, etc. She was just conditionally released to a substance-abuse program earlier this year.
