Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 54-year-old Black male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Willie Smith of Long Beach.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Multiple Gunshot Wounds

RIP WILLIE DONELL SMITH (December 23, 1969 – March 13, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 6:36 a.m.

Firefighters at Fire Station 11 detected smoke at around 6:31 a.m. and discovered it was coming from a nearby home in the 5300 block of Pine Avenue. The property, a single family home in front with a two-story, two-unit duplex in the back had fire coming from a window on the first floor. While conducting a primary search of the interior, crews found an adult male who was determined deceased onscene. The fire was knocked down at 6:40 am and was confined to the single unit on the first floor.
