Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 70-year-old Black male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Thomas Townsend.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Effects of Cocaine

Other Significant Conditions: Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, and Chronic Ethanol Use

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
