(L.A.) Tedrick Merriett, 46, Died in a Tent

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 46-year-old Black male that occurred in a tent.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Tedrick Merriett.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Effects of Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, and Phencyclidine

Other Significant Condition: Complications of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on October 16, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
