The coroner’s office identified the man as Steven Vejar. Born in L.A. County.

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday night.
The decedent had a very long criminal history, including arrests for robbery, grand theft, and street terrorism. On one single day in 2024, he was charged with the following:
- 11370.1(a) – Possess a Firearm and Controlled Substances
- 29800(a)1 – Addict in Possession of Firearm
- 30305(a)(1) – Possession of Ammunition
- 25620 a – Open Container in Public Park
- 25850(c)(3) – Carry Loaded Firearm while Participating in a Gang
- 3000.08 – Warrant Violation
The decedent was shot near the Union Pacific Railroad and East Artesia Boulevard in Long Beach.
LBPD responded to the 2300 block of East Artesia Boulevard at 7:28 p.m.
Detectives named Josh Porras, a 50-year-old resident of Long Beach, and Maria Gomez Gallegos, a 41-year-old resident of Long Beach, as the suspects. They were arrested and booked for murder in February.
