(L.A.) Shiou Deng, 53, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 53-year-old Asian male that occurred at UCLA Medical Center.
The coroner’s office identified the man as Shiou Deng.
Manner of Death: Accident
Cause of Death: Blunt-Force Traumatic Injuries
RIP SHIOU L. DENG (November 1, 1971 – June 23, 2025)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday.
The decedent was a veteran Los Angeles police sergeant. He apparently was hit by a vehicle after he stopped on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway to assist a man whose truck had broken down at around 1:58 a.m.
Both he and the man he was trying to help died. Jesus Garcia was pronounced dead on scene and was not transported to a hospital.
