(L.A.) Shannon Johnson, a Baby, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a Black male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the infant boy as Shannon Johnson.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Blunt-Force Head Trauma

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 1:24 p.m.

The child was about three and a half months old.

Shannon is an Irish name that has historically been used as a unisex name but has seen a decline in its usage for males in recent years. The name is derived from the Irish word Sionainn, which means “wise river” or “possessor of wisdom” and is associated with the River Shannon, the longest river in Ireland.
