(L.A.) Seijah Rivera, 21, Died From CHP’s Gunshots

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 21-year-old male that occurred on a street.

The coroner’s office identified the young man as Seijah Rivera.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Multiple Gunshot Wounds

RIP SEIJAH RIVERA (February 18, 2004 – February 26, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 2:46 a.m.

The decedent was shot by California Highway Patrol officers after a police pursuit in Winnetka.

CHP began pursuing a man driving a van at around 2:30 a.m. on 7236 Sunnybrae Avenue between Lassen and Mayall streets. When the driver turned into a cul-de-sac during the chase and exited the van, he was allegedly holding a handgun.

Officers opened fire on the driver after he supposedly drew his gun.

The victim’s family members live in the area.
