(L.A.) Robert Gaskill Jr., 54, Died at a Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 54-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Robert Gaskill Jr.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Acute Methamphetamine Intoxication

Cause of Death B: Illicit Drug Abuse

Other Significant Condition: HIV Infection (Chronic)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday.

The decedent was Morgan Freeman’s longtime chauffeur, and together they founded Motev, a luxury black-car service company that uses Tesla vehicles exclusively.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on September 14, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.

Methamphetamine use is disproportionately high among certain groups living with HIV.
