(L.A.) Rigoberto Ruiz Raygoza, 24, Died on the 91 Freeway

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 24-year-old Latino male that occurred on the eastbound 91 Freeway.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Rigoberto Ruiz Raygoza.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blunt-Force Head Trauma

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday morning.

Incident Location: Eastbound State Route 91 at/near Interstate 605 connector, just east of Woodruff Avenue

California Highway Patrol said they heard about a white Toyota RAV4 SUV colliding with a motorcycle in the HOV (carpool) lane at around 7:28 a.m.

A Good Samaritan in a gray Nissan stopped to block traffic until LA County Fire Department paramedics arrived at 7:38 a.m.

Preliminary investigation found that a white Tesla may have crossed into the HOV lane, causing the motorcycle to collide with it and then the Toyota RAV4. The Tesla fled the scene, making it a possible felony hit‑and‑run with injury/fatality.

There was confusion between 7:47 and 7:52 a.m. due to a second, separate crash on 91 WB near Clark Avenue.

Sigalert issued at 8:15 a.m. was canceled at 12:31 p.m.
