Red Velvet consists of members Irene (leader), Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri. They debuted in South Korea in 2014 with “Happiness.” The single became the best-selling single by a girl group in South Korea for the first half of 2015.

Their first full-length album, The Red, was released in September 2015, and included the popular lead single “Dumb Dumb.” The album debuted at number one on Billboard’s World Albums Chart as well as on various Korean music charts. In September 2016, Red Velvet released their third mini-album Russian Roulette, topping Korean music charts, earning them their first music show win, and peaking at number two on Billboard’s World Digital Songs Chart. In 2017, the releases of their fourth mini-album Rookie in February, their summer mini-album The Red Summer in July, and their second full album Perfect Velvet in November all achieved first place on Billboard’s World Albums Chart and earned Red Velvet “top girl group” status in South Korea. Their Japanese debut album #Cookie Jar was released on July 4, 2018, which debuted at the 3rd spot on Oricon Weekly Albums and sold more than 26,000 copies in the first week of its release. Their second summer mini-album Summer Magic, which was released this past August, topped South Korean music charts, earned the group first place on music shows, and debuted at number three on Billboard’s World Albums Chart.
