Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 30-year-old Black female that occurred in a tent.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Qwalyn Smith.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Fentanyl and Methamphetamine Toxicity

RIP QWALYN SMITH (November 14, 1994 – January 27, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 11:46 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on April 26, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
