RIP PREACE RANSOME (June 12, 2024 – June 12, 2024)

Intrauterine fetal demise is the medical term for a stillbirth.
Under California law, even though “fetuses” can be legally killed by their mothers, another person who is not the mother can be charged with a crime for killing a fetus or even just attempting to kill a fetus. For example, the restaurateur Joshua Woodward was charged with attempted murder and sentenced to nine years in prison for trying to induce a miscarriage of his ex-girlfriend’s three-month-old fetus.
The Hertzberg-Davis Forensic Science Center is on the campus of California State University, Los Angeles. It houses the crime laboratories of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and Los Angeles Police Department. The center is the largest single building municipal crime lab in the country, providing forensic science services to various law enforcement agencies in L.A. County.
