RIP PEJMAN A. ZANJANI (August 24, 1978 – October 3, 2022)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 7:15 a.m.

Middle name has been variously given as Abdolali, Abdolah or Abdonali.

The forename and surname appear to be Iranian/Persian.

The decedent was arrested at his home in Irvine in July 2018 for threatening to use explosive devices at Orange County Sheriff’s Department facilities.

At the time 39 years of age, Zanjani made “at least two bomb-related threats toward the jail system” during calls to a dispatch center, according to an Orange County Sheriff’s Department statement.

The first call occurred about 11:25 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, resulting in the sheriff’s Hazardous Devices Squad and trained explosive-detection dogs being sent to check out all Orange County jails.

A second call with another bomb threat came in to sheriff’s dispatch about 1 a.m. on Saturday, July 21. From that call, authorities were able to identify Zanjani and determine his city of residence.
