Manny Pacquiao Opens Prime Boxing Club in Hollywood Ahead of Mayweather Rematch
Legendary boxer Manny Pacquiao has opened a new gym in the heart of Hollywood, marking a significant departure from his longtime training home as he prepares for his highly anticipated rematch against Floyd Mayweather.
The new facility, Pacquiao Prime Boxing, is located near Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue, just steps from one of Los Angeles’ most iconic tourist corridors. The 47-year-old Hall of Fame fighter, who is set to face Mayweather on September 19 at Sphere in Las Vegas, will now train at this new location rather than the Wild Card Boxing Club, where he spent two decades under legendary trainer Freddie Roach.
The gym’s opening carries an added layer of intrigue: it occupies a space that previously housed a Mayweather Boxing + Fitness location. Pacquiao’s team, led by Jas Mathur of his promotional company, acquired the space after the previous franchise owner decided not to renew the lease. Before stripping away Mayweather’s branding — including the catchphrase “Hard Work, Dedication” — Pacquiao posed for photos next to his rival’s remaining imagery in a pointed bit of gamesmanship. Mathur told The Ring that the decision was driven primarily by the high-visibility, landmark location, though the symbolism of replacing Mayweather’s name with Pacquiao’s was unmistakable.
The Hollywood gym represents the first step in a broader business expansion for Pacquiao as he builds his post-fighting empire. The move comes alongside other recent ventures, including a partnership with Team Boxing League that made Pacquiao a franchise owner. With the gym now open in one of Hollywood’s most trafficked areas, Pacquiao is positioning himself not just for the September rematch, but for a lasting presence in the sport and entertainment capital long after he hangs up his gloves.
Pacquiao Prime Boxing is at 1724 N Highland Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028.
