Cause of Death: Traumatic Injuries

RIP OSCAR SANTOS ( September 25, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday.

California Highway Patrol heard about a person being hit by a car in Long Beach at 9:24 p.m.

The decedent’s body was found by the junction where Interstate 405 (San Diego Freeway) northbound transitions to Interstate 710 (Long Beach Freeway) northbound.

  • 9:24 PM
The first report notes a blue Infiniti Q50 stopped on the right shoulder, likely involved in the crash.
  • 9:27–9:33 PM
Long Beach Fire Department is notified and responding; CHP units report all lanes stopped near the transition road and begin closing access points.
  • 9:36–9:40 PM
CHP coordinates with Caltrans to close the Pacific Avenue on-ramp to northbound I-710 and the northbound I‑405 to I‑710 transition. A SigAlert (major traffic alert) is issued for approximately three hours.
  • 9:45–10:30 PM
Caltrans and law enforcement complete hard closures. A tow truck (Falcon Towing) is requested, but the tow is delayed because the coroner must first examine the vehicle.
  • 10:38 PM–12:55 AM
The coroner arrives, inspection occurs, and the tow is rerolled to remove the vehicle after clearance.
  • 12:55–1:19 AM (Sep 26)
Caltrans reopens the transition. SigAlert is canceled, and all lanes are confirmed open by 1:19 AM.
