(L.A.) Osain Bonilla, 16, Died From Security Guard’s Defense of Weed Dispensary

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 16-year-old Latino male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the teenager as Osain Bonilla.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of Torso

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 4:02 a.m.

The decedent appears to have been the suspect who rammed a car into the ERBA marijuana dispensary on Pico Boulevard.

LAPD said they responded at around 3:15 a.m. to the business where the security guard said he had shot at the male suspect, who was wearing a ski mask when he drove a vehicle into the shop. The guard assumed it was an attempted burglary — entering a structure, regardless of means, with the intent of committing theft.

Media had reported that the suspect was a 25-year-old.
