RIP NORA VILLANUEVA CAMPANOR (May 27, 1994 – August 4, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 12:42 a.m.

LASD said the shooting occurred at around 12:30 a.m. in the area of East Avenue H and Challenger Way.

The alleged shooter had confronted the victim and a man at a Lancaster residence about 15 minutes earlier, where he fired a shot into the man’s home, but no injuries were reported.

The suspect and victim — believed to have been an estranged couple — left that home in the woman’s vehicle, and eventually got into an argument inside the stopped vehicle in the area of East Avenue H and Challenger Way.

At approximately 12:29 a.m., while involved in a verbal argument, the suspect and victim exited the vehicle. The suspect again produced the firearm and shot the victim, killing her. The suspect drove away in the victim’s vehicle, leaving the deceased victim at the scene.

The alleged gunman then drove to the home of a member of the woman’s family in Palmdale and attempted suicide while inside the victim’s vehicle. He was rushed to a hospital to be treated for an apparent gunshot wound and was listed in critical condition.
