The coroner’s office identified the man as Nilo Ortiz and listed his race/ethnicity as Latino [sic].

Cause of Death: Blunt-Force Head and Torso Trauma
Other Significant Condition: Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday.
The decedent was of Philippine descent. He was fatally injured in Panorama City, outside a branch of the Filipino American supermarket chain Seafood City.
