Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of Head

RIP NICHOLAS NOLY WIRATMAN SIMBOLON (August 6, 1981 – November 28, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 7:07 p.m.

The decedent worked as Principal Information Systems Analyst in L.A. County’s chief executive office. He was found by his wife inside his Tesla in the garage of their home, fatally injured from a gunshot.

According to a preliminary investigation, Simbolon was followed to his residence in the 1800 block of Hawkbrook Drive, where he was then robbed and killed.

Jerrid Joseph Powell, 35, was later arrested during a traffic stop near Santa Monica Boulevard and Rexford Drive in Beverly Hills after his vehicle was identified as the one on surveillance video reviewed by deputies investigating the shooting.

Simbolon was apparently followed home from an electric-vehicle charging station in the 200 block of South Citrus Street in West Covina. The suspect approached Simbolon in the residential garage, grabbed a few items, then simply fired his weapon without provocation.

UPDATE: Authorities now believe that Jerrid Joseph Powell was also responsible for the shooting deaths of three homeless people last month.
