(L.A.) Misty Rude, 41, Died from Mixed Drug Toxicity

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 41-year-old Caucasian female that occurred at a Motel 6 in Canoga Park.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Misty Rude of Pennsville, New Jersey.

Cause of Death: Mixed Drug Toxicity (Gabapentin, Quetiapine, And Valproic Acid)

The decedent was found inside Room 135 of the Motel 6 at 7132 De Soto Ave, Canoga Park, CA 91303.

Gabapentin, sold under the brand name Neurontin among others, is an anticonvulsant medication primarily used to treat partial seizures and neuropathic pain. It is a first-line medication for the treatment of neuropathic pain caused by diabetic neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, and central pain.

Quetiapine, sold under the brand name Seroquel among others, is an atypical antipsychotic medication used for the treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder.

Valproate (VPA) and its valproic acid, sodium valproate, and valproate semisodium forms are medications primarily used to treat epilepsy and bipolar disorder and prevent migraine headaches.
