(L.A.) Miriam Stokes, 53, Died in Public View

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 53-year-old Black female that occurred in public view.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Miriam Stokes.

STATUS: The decedent’s body has been released. Ruling by the deputy medical examiner is deferred pending additional investigation.

Manner and cause of death will be added to this page when it becomes available.

If the DME has ordered toxicological screening, the next public update may take three to five months.

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday.

The government investigator had initially misspelled the decedent’s surname as Strokes.
