(L.A.) Miriam Marroquin, 60, Died in Boyle Heights

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 60-year-old Hispanic female that occurred on the 5 Freeway.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as Miriam Marroquin.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Multiple Blunt-Force Traumatic Injuries

At 5:07 a.m., California Highway Patrol was informed of a big rig truck carrying a 25,000-pound load that had collided with multiple vehicles on the southbound 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights.

One person died on the scene and 15 others were injured.

From the video description: A semi truck drove into 9 stopped vehicles during a traffic break for a crash up ahead early 12/28/25 morning around 5AM. 16 victims injured were reported on scene. 1 person was DOA. This was on the I-5S & E 4th St exit. The semi was carrying a 25,000lb load which significantly impacted the crash.
