Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 55-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred at a motel.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Martin Stai. Born in L.A. County.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Ethanol (Alcohol), Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Mitragynine, Sertraline, and Lorazepam Intoxication

Other Significant Condition: Hypertensive Cardiomyopathy and Obesity

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday.

Mitragynine is the most abundant active alkaloid in the Southeast Asian plant Mitragyna speciosa, commonly known as kratom.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, polysubstance overdose.
