(L.A.) Martin Soria, 30, Died on a Sidewalk

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 30-year-old Latino male that occurred on a sidewalk.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Martin Soria.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Acute Mitragynine Intoxication

Other Significant Conditions: Obesity; Cardiac Dilation

RIP MARTIN ROBERTO SORIA (August 31, 1994 – May 30, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday.

The decedent had led California Highway Patrol officers on a high-speed chase in a silver Aston Martin on surface streets after CHP had attempted a traffic stop. He crashed into a utility pole in the area of Washington Boulevard and Soto Street in Boyle Heights.

After exiting the vehicle, he took off running. Shortly thereafter, he suffered a medical emergency and ultimately died on scene, despite efforts by LAFD paramedics to revive him.
