(L.A.) Maria Vargas-Luna, 55, Died From McDonald’s Attack

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 55-year-old Hispanic female.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as Maria Vargas-Luna.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease

Other Significant Condition: Ground-Level Fall

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on June 6.

The decedent was attacked by a homeless man on March 9, 2024, while she and her husband were at a McDonald’s drive-thru. She was taken to a hospital and released after a week but needed to be readmitted due to complications. She was on life support for several months before ultimately dying from her injuries.
