(L.A.) Marcus Round, 38, Died at a Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 38-year-old Caucasian male that occurred at his residence.
The coroner’s office has identified the man as Marcus Round. Born in L.A. County. Mother’s maiden name is Masoner.

Cause of Death: Effects of Fentanyl and Methamphetamine

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 4:40 p.m.
Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on July 13, presumably after the results of tox screening came back.

If it’s a suicide, it’s likely not by gunshot or hanging because those often get disclosed within 48 hours.
When it’s pending this long, it’s usually because a toxicology report was ordered by the medical examiner. If that’s the case, then an update will not be provided until about six months later.
Thanks just checking this happened in December and today is February and it looks like services had been done recently.
The body is released within a few days and a temporary death certificate stating “Pending” under cause of death is issued to next-of-kin to help them with the process of proving death for legal purposes.
Tissue samples or the like are taken and used for the investigation. Once the case is closed, a death certificate with the actual cause of death is released.

When case status is deferred like this, it suggests the medical examiner may take five to six months to make a determination. Half the pending cases from July are just now being resolved after waiting for toxicology results.
