(L.A.) Marco Murillo Jr., 13, Died from Being Stabbed

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 13-year-old male of Latin American ethnicity that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Marco Murillo Jr.

Manner of Death: Homicide

RIP MARCO MURILLO JR. (November 25, 2009 – January 12, 2023)

On January 11, 2023, at around 5:40 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department uniformed officers, assigned to Transit Services Division, observed a physical altercation involving several juvenile males at the intersection of 7th Street and Flower Street.

The officers intervened, separating several involved parties. As officers were investigating the incident, they discovered that the victim, identified as 13-year-old Marco Murillo, of Rialto, had suffered a stab wound to the abdomen.

Officers provided medical treatment to Murillo and requested an ambulance. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded and transported Murillo to a L.A. County-USC Medical Center for further treatment and surgery. He was pronounced deceased at 2 a.m.

The investigation at scene revealed that Murillo and the suspect were involved in a verbal dispute, which quickly escalated to a physical dispute. During the dispute, the suspect stabbed Murillo with an unidentified cutting instrument. The suspect ran from the scene, eastbound on 7th Street.

The suspect is described as a male White or Hispanic, between 14 to 17 years of age, and of medium height and build.
