(L.A.) Luis Mendez, 36, Died at a Homeless Shelter

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 36-year-old Latino male that occurred at a homeless shelter.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Luis Mendez.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Methamphetamine Toxicity

Other Significant Condition: Cocaine Effects

RIP LUIS MENDEZ (June 13, 1988 – March 7, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 8:15 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on May 19, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
