(L.A.) Kenneth Ong, 45, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 45-year-old Asian male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Kenneth Ong.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease

Other Significant Condition: Effects of Mitragynine

RIP KENNETH RYAN ONG (July 23, 1980 – September 18, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published in late November, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.

Mitragynine is the most abundant active alkaloid in the Southeast Asian plant Mitragyna speciosa, commonly known as kratom.
